I was very disappointed to read (The Maui News, Aug. 23) that the County Council has voted to allow Realtor George Nunes to disrespect our community plan agreement and allow him to build a four-story business building makai of the road in spite of the area being zoned for a park.
The community and the General Plan Advisory Committee are spending much time on the General Plan update in process right now. How do you think it makes us feel that a backroom deal can undo all our efforts!
I think in all of these meet-the-candidate events and newspaper interviews, candidates should be asked whether they will respect community plans or not! West Maui Preservation Association, I hope you guys sue everyone involved in this underhanded maneuver.
