Akahele Street bisects the proposed 310-acre Pulelehua development on the slopes below Kapalua Airport in 2019. The Maui Planning Commission voted unanimously Tuesday in favor of the project’s site plan. Once all phases are complete, Pulelehua will include 800 multifamily units, 100 single-family lots with the potential for 100 additional ohana units, an estimated 70,000-square-foot commercial and retail floor space, a 13-acre school site, a 10-acre community park site and about 124 acres of open spaces.
